Our Promise
At Auckland Opticians, we’re committed to providing every patient with exceptional eye care - combining a personal touch with advanced technology, for a service that’s always friendly, professional, and local.
Our History
Auckland Opticians has a proud family heritage dating back to 1948, just after the Second World War. Our story began in the small village of Clayton West, where our founder, Victor Auckland carried out eye tests from the front room of his home. As demand grew, Victor opened a head office and manufacturing lab in Horbury, Wakefield. His son, Roger Auckland, later took over the business, continuing his father’s legacy and expanding into both South and West Yorkshire. Today, more than 75 years later, we remain a proud family-run company lead by Caroline Auckland-Shone, Director and Optometrist. With six busy practices, the fourth generation of our family is now beginning their journey, continuing the tradition of exceptional eye care that our great-grandfather started all those years ago. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our local communities for their continued trust and support. It’s through your loyalty that we’ve been able to grow and serve generations of families with the same care and commitment that have always been at the heart of Auckland Opticians.
